500 Bears Donated as Part of Local Charitable Effort

The Greater Newtown Exchange Club, the Council Rock School District and the Northampton Township Police Department collected 500 bears as part of the Wee Care Bear project.

More than 500 bears have been collected as part of the Wee Care Bear project, organized by The Greater Newtown Exchange Club, the Council Rock School District and the Northampton Township Police Department.

The effort to collect teddy bears was launched earlier this month. The bears, which were collected at Holland Elementary School, will be distributed to children involved in trauma situations such as accidents, family disputes and abuse situations.

“The bears these students have collected will be put to work in a very special way and the parents of these young people can be very proud of their remarkable efforts,” said Greater Newtown Exchange Club President Scott Harp.
