Council Rock North students are working to create a database of graduates who have served in the nation’s armed forces.
The project, spearheaded by the Council Rock North Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, will enable the school to honor graduates who have served the nation during the annual Veteran’s Day ceremony.
“Each year our high school partners together with The American Legion, Morrell Smith Post 440 of Newtown to coordinate and direct a ceremony to honor our local veterans on Veteran's Day," explained Eric Ettorre, Rho Kappa president.
"In order to honor the graduates of Council Rock who have served our nation in the armed forces, we have created a website on which the veterans can provide us with current contact information,” Ettorre said.
The main goal of the project is to “honor the men and women for their service and sacrifice,” Ettorre said. “The students of Rho Kappa as a whole feel it is our duty to make sure these men and women are recognized for their service within the local community.”
The connection with local veterans may also provide guidance for students considering joining the armed forces, Ettore pointed out.
