Halloween Art Scene Registration Deadline is Friday

Sign up to decorate local shop windows with family-friendly fall scenes.

Help get Newtown ready for Halloween during the annual Newtown Halloween Art Scene event, set for Oct. 19.

Organized by Newtown Borough Businesses, Newtown Halloween Art Scene will begin at 9 a.m. and will feature family friendly events and contests, including window painting, scarecrow making, cupcake wars and more.

Adults, families and groups are encouraged to sign up to decorate shop windows with family-friendly fall scenes.  Be sure to sign up by Friday.

For a $5 fee, paint will be provided and a window assigned. (Requests for specific business’ windows will be honored on a first come, first served basis, according to organizers.)

Supply pick up will be held that morning at George’s Flooring Store, 212 S. State Street.

Painters must bring their own brushes. All paintings should be completed by 2 p.m. that day. Artists under the age of 13 must have adult supervision at all times.

There is no fee to participate in the scarecrow contest but if you’re interested in participating; check out these rules and register by Friday.

Advance registration for the cupcake contest is not required, according to the contest rules. Cupcakes should be homemade and have a fall or Halloween theme. 

To enter, bring six cupcakes (on a disposable tray) to First National Bank, 40 S State St, on Oct. 19 between 9 and 10:30 a.m. Be sure to attach the recipe for the cake and frosting.
