The annual holiday parade will be held Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.

Halloween may be weeks away but it’s time to mark your calendar for one of Newtown’s biggest events.

The annual holiday parade, this year called McCaffrey’s Supermarket Holiday Parade, will be held Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.

The parade will feature local groups, musicians, fire trucks and much more.

The parade starts at The Stocking Works on South State Street and travels north to Washington Avenue. From there it goes down Sycamore Street and ends at Durham Road.

According to organizers, more than 50 groups and 1,800 people participated in last year's parade, which attracted thousands of spectators.
