Santa Claus Coming to Upper Makefield

He will be touring Upper Makefield Township in a fire engine on Dec. 23. The event is also a food drive for the Penndel Food Pantry.

Santa Claus is coming to Upper Makefield Township.

He'll be touring the township on Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. with the assistance of the Upper Makefield Fire Company. "Come rain, snow, sleet or shine, Santa will spread holiday cheer to young residents as he passes homes and businesses on the UMFC’s state-of-the-art emergency equipment," an announcement from the Fire Company said.

Santa will return to the firehouse on Taylorsville Road for pictures from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

In conjunction with the event, the UMFC will host a food drive collection event to benefit the Penndel Food Pantry.

The Penndel Food Pantry is in dire need of unexpired, canned and boxed food items. Suggested items include beans, tuna, juice, cereal, canned fruit and vegetables, applesauce, soup, pasta, sauce and macaroni and cheese.

Last year, this collection generated more than 650 pounds of food for the pantry. Donations will be accepted at the Upper Makefield Township Firehouse on Taylorsville Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The Penndel Food Pantry is the second busiest pantry in Bucks County, serving an average of 60 to 80 families daily.

Everyone who donates to the food drive will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a gift certificate to Toys R Us. The gift certificate drawing will take place immediately after the 6:30 to 8 p.m. picture session.

"For everyone’s safety during this holiday season, please do not allow children to run into the street while Santa is touring the area," the fire company announcement said.

Santa and his group will be delivering goodie bags to each child from the truck. Children should stay on the side of the road.
