Designing a Meditation Station

Let's talk a bit of interior design.  You have probably heard that meditation has a phenomenal amount of benefits.  There are a plethora of articles and academic studies extolling the power of meditation to reduce physical pain and build your mind's stamina.  Meditation is not a prayer and has no religious connotations unless you want.  All you have to do is breath deeply. Listen to your breath. Focus and clear out your mind.  When you have to keep it real in real estate everyday, meditation becomes a necessity.  Just give meditation a try for a few days.

So, let's start designing your Meditation Station:

You are trying to create a space that will help you come into your inner self.  So, your outer self must be completely comfortable!

The first piece is the folding lounge chair.  I found this one on Overstock.com for $97.  The chair is close to the ground and can be stored away when not needed.  Not to mention, you have back support.  Yeah, I'm sure real yogis can sit on a blanket in the middle of a forest and meditate with proper posture.  I am either driving all day, standing all day, or sitting in front of a computer all day.  I need the support.  Make sure you put on an inviting throw over the chair and possibly another pillow for added support.  I suggest the throw should be an earth color.

Meditation tip: Remember to relax your jaw by sinking your lower jaw into your throat.  Pull your shoulder blades together and offer your heart to the world with your chest open.

Next, find a candle to light.  Shut off all the lights in your room when meditating, but light a nice soy scented candle.  I recommend Gifts from the Heart by Cathy Rose.     Her candles are hand poured and made with real essential oils for proper aromatherapy.  Take your deepest breath and blow out the candle at the end of your session.

Meditation tip:  You don't really need background music, but try going on Youtube to find vibration music.  Try it without music, but sometimes our thoughts are so darn loud we need it.  I subscribe to this one channel, check them out:

Finally,  find an object, painting, saying, poster, whatever to focus on when you open your eyes.  I love the painting below, because when I open my eyes, I end up focusing on the red dot and stay in a meditative state of mind.  I found this piece on http://www.goodearthcanvas.com/

Meditation tip:  Close to the end of your meditation, inhale deeply through your nose and exhale through pursed lips to create a vibration between your lips.  Sort of like a bee buzzing noise.  This will help to release positive energy into your surrounding space.

Best of luck!
