Queens Street Renamed After Benjamin Wheeler
Benjamin Wheeler was killed in the Sandy Hook school shooting. His mother is a Council Rock graduate.
A street in Queens was renamed after Benjamin Wheeler, the son of a Council Rock graduate who died in the school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in December.
A stretch of 41st Street in Sunnyside was renamed after Wheeler, son of Fran Lobis-Wheeler, a member of Council Rock’s class of 1985. A ceremony was held Saturday at Queens Boulevard and 41st Street.
The Wheeler family lived in that area of Queens for the first year of his life, before his family moved to Connecticut, CBS New York reported.
