Edward F. Shields, 64, Founder and Owner of Estex

Ed was an avid pen, pencil and watercolor artist. He enjoyed cycling and his beach time in Stone Harbor.

Edward F. Shields of Doylestown and Stone Harbor, N.J., passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013. He was 64.

He was the founder and owner of Newtown-based Estex, a textile brokerage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose A. and Francis J. Shields of Philadelphia. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John and Denise Shields; his sister, Mary Shields McKinney; his niece, Jennifer Shields Kallatch and her family; and his aunt, Mary McGill.

Edward graduated from Father Judge High School and Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science(now Philadelphia University).

Edward worked as a fabric designer at both Brandeis Fabrics and Raxon Fabrics of New York City, and later formed his own company, Estex, a textile brokerage in Newtown.

Ed was an avid pen, pencil and watercolor artist. He enjoyed cycling and his beach time in Stone Harbor.
