Edward J. Burns, 83, Longtime Morell Smith Post 440 Member

Edward J. Burns, Jr., 83, of Newtown, PA, died on Nov. 15, 2013 at Chandler Hall, Newtown. 
Ed was born on Sept. 21, 1930 in Trenton and graduated in the Class of 1949 of Newtown High School. He proudly served during the Korean War in the US Army. Ed was a Newtown Postal Carrier and Clerk for 35 years. He was a long-time member of the American Legion Morell Smith Post #440, a past member of the Newtown Fire Association and he served several years on the Newtown Ambulance Squad. He was a member of the Church of St. Andrew when living in Newtown. Ed loved the outdoors, sports and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved retirement traveling between Florida and the Poconos for over 20 years. 
Ed is the son of the late Edward and Catherine Watts Burns and he is survived by his loving wife Daryl, his devoted sister, Alice of Buckingham Spring, two caring brothers, Gerald of La Crescenta, CA and George (Eileen) of St. Petersburg, FL. Ed is also survived by his stepson, Kyle (Ruthann) Cloman, stepdaughters, Stephanie (Thomas) Lupinacci and Casey Cloman. He is also survived by six nieces and one nephew, Christopher Burns and several cherished cousins. 
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff of Chandler Hall for their excellent care and support during the past five years. 
Relatives, classmates and friends are invited to Ed's Life Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 10:30 to 11:30 at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown and to his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30. Interment with military honors will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown at 1 PM.
