Gerald Byelich, 61, Former Newtown Fire Association Member

There will be a public reception at 1:15 p.m. and funeral service at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Gerald Walker 'Jerry' Byelich of Newtown and Chincoteague, Va., died on Jan. 19, 2014. He was 61.

He was the husband of Lorinda Kay Byelich; father of Loren, Raymond (departed), Jason, and Justin; grandfather of Cameron, Jaiden, Jada, Caleb, and Grace; son of Sara Elizabeth Wilkes McClain and the late Michael John Byelich. 

He is survived by his mother and her husband, Frank. He was the brother of Michael (departed), Howard, Martha Thompson (departed), Doris Ehret, Susan, David, Lori Markloff, James, Sara Weight, Marijean Johnson, Terri Brunell, and Mark; and had numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Jerry was a 1970 graduate of Council Rock High School, former member of the Newtown Fire Association, former member of Wycombe Baptist Church, and a member of the United States Bowling Congress. He worked for Agway of Newtown, Dickman-Sergeant Energy, Leck Waste Services and Waste Management of Pokomoke, Md. as lead transportation specialist and Garbologist.

Jerry loved to dance and joke around, but his greatest legacy was his faith in Jesus and his love for his wife and family.

A private viewing for the family will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 25, at Swartz/Givnish Funeral Home, Washington and Lincoln Avenues, Newtown, Pa., 215-968-3891, followed by a public reception at 1:15 p.m. and funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Newtown Cemetery, Washington and Elm Avenues, Newtown, Pa.
