26 Shopping Carts Reported Stolen from Acme

The carts, which were broken or damaged, had been placed at the rear of the store to be picked up for repair.

A theft of 26 shopping carts from Acme Supermarket was reported to the Newtown Township Police Department Tuesday.

According to police, officers were dispatched supermarket around 9:40 a.m. after an employee reported 26 shopping carts were missing. The carts, which were broken or damaged, had been placed at the rear of the store to be picked up for repair, the employee told police.

The employee told officers that a person collecting scrap metal may have took them. 

The replacement value is estimated to be $2,600.
