$5k Reward For Info Leading To Arrest of Hit-and-Run Driver

Police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver who struck and killed a 61-year-old man and then left the scene.

East Hampton Town police announced on Wednesday morning that there is a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in the hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian in Amagansett on Tuesday night.

Detectives are working with Crime Stoppers of Suffolk County to help find the driver, who fled the scene after the crash occurred sometime before 7:52 p.m., when emergency personnel were notified by a passing motorist.

John Judge, a 61-year-old who frequented Astro Pizza on Main Street, was found on the street, across from the restaurant, next to the tire of a truck that was parked on the east side. Judge was transported to Southampton Hospital and emergency room personnel pronounced him dead.

"Detectives believe the vehicle that struck the victim fled the scene in an unknown direction after sustaining damage to the front end in the collision," the statement said.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to do the following: call the East Hampton Town Police Detective Division at 631-537-7575 or email detectives at ehtpd@ehtpd.org, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Tipsters may also text tips to the Suffolk County Police Department at CRIMES (274637) and text SCPD, plus the message. You may also go to www.tipsubmit.com.

All calls will be kept confidential, police said.

The Monster who did this is somewhere out there, and someone who must have seen something....please for God's sake, call the Police and turn this person in. We can't let a week go by (like what happened in Water Mill) when the trail goes cold and the Perpetrator is able to flee the country and justice.

Amen, the person needs to turn himself or herself in!

KHARMA WILL CATCH YOU IF THE POLICE DON'T. The sins of the father are paid by the son. Do yourself, your family, and everyone else a favor and take responsibility for what you have done. You will never be able to run from yourself... TURN YOURSELF IN NOW !
