Two Men Charged in Jewelry Store Burglaries

Two men who authorities believe are involved in several jewelry store burglaries in Montgomery and Bucks counties, including three in Newtown Township, have been charged.

Two men who have been charged in connection with last week's burglary at a jewelry store in Horsham are believed to have also robbed a Newtown Township jewelry store, according to authorities.

Horsham Police Department on Monday arrested Ryan Wiley, 23, of Doylestown and Phillip A. Prokop, 38, of North Wales. The men were charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy stemming from the Oct. 17 burglary at Jems, Jewels and Gold in Horsham Township.

Authorities believe Wiley and Prokop are also connected to the three robberies at Mayfair Jewelers that occured since September.

Horsham Police said Wiley and Prokop were identified as suspects after they attempted to sell "large quantities of jewelry" to a local pawn shop.

Prior to their arrest, authorities had said they believed the suspects may have also committed similar jewelry store burglaries in Newtown Township in Bucks County, as well as in Montgomery Township at a Costco.
