The Goodnoe Elementary School student, whose name was not released, sustained minor injuries and was transported to St. Mary's as a precaution, Principal Nicole Crawford said in an email to parents.

Superintendent Mark Klein confirmed Wednesday morning that the student was okay.

The accident occured at the corner of Congress and Jefferson Streets. It was the first day of school for Goodnoe Elementary School students.

"The bus was delayed at that intersection (after the accident) while police interviewed witnesses," Crawford said, adding that when the bus finally was allowed to leave this intersection, she rode with the students for the remainder of the bus run.

"All students were safely off the bus before 5 p.m.," she said.

Crawford said she will be meeting with the students from this bus when they arrive to school in the morning.
