Burglar Targets Parked Car at the NAC, Police Say

Someone smashed the window of a car parked at the Newtown Athletic Club Tuesday morning and took a briefcase containing a wallet and personal items, police said.

Cars were damaged and one broken into Tuesday in separate incidents at two Newtown fitness clubs, Newtown Township Police said.

According to police, around 11 a.m., someone reported their car had been damaged and broken into while parked at the Newtown Athletic Club lot.  The victim told police he parked his car there around 9:30 a.m. that morning and when he returned, the window of his car had been smashed and his briefcase had been stolen. The victim told police the briefcase contained his wallet and numerous personal papers. 

The security cameras in the club's lot did not show the area where the vehicle was parked, police said.

Then around 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to Optimal Fitness located on South Eagle Road after a man reported that someone had slashed two tires on his car.  The victim told police he did not see anyone suspicious or have any idea who caused the damage.
