Dispute at Homewood Suites, Headlamps Taken from Car, DUI Arrest: Recent Police Activity

Newtown Township Police reported the following recent activity:

Friday, July 18

At approximately 2:30 pm a resident of Newtown Township came to police headquarters to report that her bank said there was fraudulent activity on her account in the amount of $142.  The victim also received notification that her information had been used in attempts gain funds from another bank and Bill Me Later. The victim was advised to report the fraudulent activity to the credit bureaus.

Saturday, July 19

Shortly before midnight, police were dispatched to the Homewood Suites for a report of a dispute in the lobby.  The individuals creating the disturbance had dispersed prior to police arrival.

Monday, July 21

Shortly after 5 a.m., an officer patrolling in Wrightstown Township observed white letters spray-painted on Penns Park Road. 

At approximately 4:50 p.m., a resident of Newtown Township called police to report that the headlamps of his vehicle were removed from the vehicle while it was at a service station located on Newtown-Yardley Road.  The headlamps are valued at $300. 

A resident of Wrightstown Township came to police headquarters to file a report for fraud. The victim told police that he was informed by his credit card company that someone had used his personal information to make several purchases in California.  The purchases were made between July 18 and 19, for a total loss of $560.00.  The account was closed at the direction of credit card company. 

At approximately 11:45 p.m. police stopped a motorist on Richboro Road because of traffic violations.  At the stop, the driver, identified as Yurie Bachynskyy, 26, of Southampton was suspected of being under the influence. Bachynskyy was taken into custody and transported to Saint Mary Medical Center to have blood drawn to be submitted to Bucks County’s Crime Lab.  Charges of DUI are pending the results of the lab work.   

Wednesday, July 23

Shortly before 1 a.m., a woman came to police headquarters to report that her purse had been stolen from her vehicle.  The victim wasn’t sure if the item was removed while her car was parked in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven on Sycamore Street or when it was parked at a friend’s home on South Lancaster Lane.  The theft occurred at some point after 8:30 p.m. on July 22. 

A resident of Leedom Way called police around 8:25 a.m. to report that someone entered his car and took a small amount of cash from the center console overnight. 

Between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m., two different residents came to police headquarters to report fraudulent activity on their credit card accounts.   Each of the victims reported multiple transactions with the suspects using ATMs to make unauthorized withdraws from their accounts in excess of $1,000.
