Downed Wires Close Sycamore Street, Police Say

A portion of Sycamore Street was closed Wednesday after a tractor trailer pulled wires down into the roadway.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, police were dispatched to South Sycamore Street near 7-Eleven for a report that cables had been pulled down onto the road. Officers located a tractor trailer making a delivery nearby and confirmed with the driver that he had traveled through the area of the downed wires.

Verizon sent someone to repair the damage, according to police. Personnel from Newtown Township Public Works placed barricades around the wires for safety.

An officer checked the area around 3 p.m. and spoke with the Verizon worker, who said Comcast was also involved in the repairs, police said. At that point, the worker told police repairs were finished and the road was reopened.
