Duck Sauce Damaged by Holiday Fire

The Chinese restaurant remains open for business and did not sustain interior damage.

The in the borough of Newtown suffered exterior damage after a mulch fire along the building on the Fourth of July.

Fire crews from the Newtown Fire Association and several area departments were dispatched to the restaurant Wednesday after employees called 911 to report smoke conditions inside and outside the building, according to a information released by the fire association.

Newtown firefighters went to work and contained the fire to the outside of the Chinese eatery. Portions of the exterior of the building were damaged after a chainsaw was used to removing siding in an effort to “eliminate hotspots and prevent any potential flare-ups,” the post went on to say.

Employees of Duck Sauce told the fire association it is only by chance they were open this year on the Fourth.

The resturant remains open for business.

As of late last week, the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
