A one-vehicle accident has closed traffic in both directions on a portion of Route 413 (Durham Road) in Wrightstown Township. Route 413 is closed between Route 232 (Second Street Pike/Windy Bush Road) and Pine Lane near Township Line Road.

According to police, preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the empty tri-angle dump truck drifted to the right of the road, striking three utility poles and a transformer. The driver, who was not seriously injured, was traveling south on Route 413.

The truck came to rest on the transformer, creating a hazardous condition, police said.

According to Newtown Township police, as of 4 p.m., 15 PECO trucks are at the location.  Three different crews are working on the restoration of the poles in attempts to restore power to the five homes that are without power.

The PECO Environmental team is in the process of cleaning up the transformer and removing the debris and hazardous materials, according to police.

The driver was taken to Saint Mary Medical Center, which is standard procedure when a commercially-licensed driver is in an accident.

Traffic will be rerouted onto Pine Lane or Township Line Road from the southbound lanes of 413.

Northbound traffic may travel on Windy Bush Road or chose Park Avenue to Township Line Road to avoid the accident scene.
