Injuries Reported in Head-On Crash on Swamp Road

EMT units rushed Swamp Road near Worthington Mill Road after a head-on collision in Wrightstown Township.

Two people were reportedly hurt in a head-on collision today on Swamp Road in Wrightstown Township.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m., two compact vehicles, both Hyundais, collided head-on just east of Worthington Mill Road, according to authorities, who said they could not comment more due to an ongoing investigation of the accident.

"I saw one of the drivers, an older guy, being put on a stretcher by the paramedics," said Mike Newell, a truck driver from South Jersey, who came upon the accident scene as police were arriving.

Police would not comment on how many people were injured in the crash or the extent of the victims injuries, but Patch can confirm two ambulances, including one from Northampton, were called to the scene.

Both Hyundais suffered front-end damage and were towed from the scene.

Newtown police, who patrol Wrightown Township, closed Swamp Road between Worthington Mill and Twinning Bridge roads. Swamp Road was reopened shortly after 12:30 p.m.

The investigation should be wrapped up by tomorrow morning and more information will be released, Lieutenant Glenn A. Forsyth told Patch.
