Intoxicated Teen Taken to Hospital, Out-of-Control Car in 7-Eleven Lot

Newtown Township Police Department reported the following recent activity:

Friday, June 20

At approximately 3:15 p.m., a resident of Diamond Drive called to report that an unknown contractor dumped cabinets in his Dumpster, which is not permitted. The caller provided a registration number for the vehicle involved, but the number given was invalid and there no additional information to further an investigation.

Saturday, June 21

Shortly before 2 a.m., an officer observed a motorist commit traffic violations on the Newtown Bypass and performed a traffic stop. At the stop, the driver was identified as 20-year-old Nicholas McShane of Malvern. The officer determined that McShane was driving while his license is under suspension and the registration on the vehicle was expired. The officer seized McShane’s licenses to return it to PennDOT. McShane was advised not to drive. His passenger drove the car from the location, and citations charging McShane with the violations will be mailed to him.

Sunday, June 22

Around 12:40 a.m. police were dispatched Brecknock Court for a noise complaint. The responding officer made contact with the resident who was playing music too loudly and asked him to reduce the volume which he did. No further police action was required.

While observing traffic on Sycamore Street shortly after 2 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle in the 7-Eleven parking lot begin to drift back out of a parking space. The officer pulled into the lot to try and stop the vehicle before it struck anyone or other vehicles. When the officer ran up to the car he observed that Shannon O’Connor, 39, Philadelphia was in physical control of the car. After speaking with O’Connor, the officer formed the opinion that she had consumed alcohol and was incapable of safe driving. O’Connor was taken into custody and transported to Saint Mary Medical Center, where she refused to provide a blood sample for testing. She was then release to a friend and will receive charges of driving under the influence of alcohol in mail.
