Man Struck, Killed After Car Breaks Down on I-95 at Newtown-Yardley Exit

Benjamin Melendez, 30, of Trenton, was struck by two cars after he got out of the broken down Suzuki being driven by his friend from Levittown.

The passenger of a car that broke down just near the Newtown-Yardley Exit off I-95 was killed early Sunday, according to reports.

Benjamin Melendez, 30, of Trenton, was struck by two cars after he got out of the broken down Suzuki driven by Daniel Raymond, 26, of Levittown, 6 ABC reported. Melendez was trying to cross the road to meet a friend who had come to help. 

Police told 6 ABC that Raymond saw his friend get hit by the car and went to drag him from the road.  The two were then both hit by another car. Both cars stopped at the scene and no alcohol was detected in either driver, 6 ABC reported.

Raymond was transported to St. Mary Medical Center with unknown injures and Melendez was pronounced dead at the scene, according to reports.

The road was closed for five hours following the accident.
