Man Suspected of DUI Flips Car on 2nd Street Pike, Police Say

The one-car accident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Monday on 2nd Street Pike in Wrightstown Township.

Newtown Township police responded a report of a one-car accident on 2nd Street Pike in Wrightstown around 9 p.m. Monday. According to police, the car flipped and the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

The man was transported by ambulance to Saint Mary Medical Center for treatment of his injuries from the accident.

Blood samples were submitted to the crime lab for analysis and charges of DUI are pending the results.  The car was heavily damaged and was towed from the scene, police said.

Newtown Township Police also reported the following recent items. 

At about 7:40 a.m. Monday, an employee of Worldwide Restoration reported a generator, the chain that was securing it to the bridge under repair as well as a bag of cement were stolen from a work site on Swamp Road in Wrightstown overnight. The caller also said that two boxes at the site were tampered with.  The value of the items was not available when the report was filed, but will be provided to police.

A resident of Silver Lake Road came to headquarters around 3 p.m. Monday to report fraudulent activity on his checking account.  The victim reported two checks had been written against his account the two checks totaled to $1,695.
