Police said Ahmed Elnenaey, 36, was arrested Thursday night after allegedly assaulting his father with a hammer. He also smashed another family member's windshield, police said.

A Newtown man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting his father with a hammer and smashing another family member’s windshield, according to Newtown Township Police.

Police said Ahmed Elnenaey, 36, was arrested Thursday night after police were dispatched to Fox Glove Court for a report that a man with a hammer was swinging it at his father.

When police arrived at the house, they spoke with witnesses who said Elnenaey also used the hammer to smash the windshield of a family member’s car.

As police were examining the scene outside of the home, an officer found a zippered case with a residue-laden glass smoking pipe in a trash can nearby Elnenaey’s vehicle.

Elnenaey is charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, criminal mischief causing damage to private property, possession of an instrument of a crime, possession of drug paraphernalia and harassment by striking or shoving.

He was arraigned by video teleconference and sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

As a condition of his bail, Elnenaey was ordered to have no contact with the victim, and not to be at or near the residence, police said.
