Newtown Township Police Blotter: Nov. 28 to Dec. 4

Recent activity as reported by the Newtown Township Police Department.

 

Monday, Nov. 28

Shortly after 9 a.m., police responded to Sterling Street for a complaint of a suspicious male subject sitting on the curb beside his vehicle.  The officer made contact with the man, who explained that he was waiting for his boss to start work on a house across the street.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., police were dispatched to the wooded area behind a home on Fair Oaks Court when the resident called to report that she had observed people loitering in the area.  The officers checked the area and the only sign of previous activity was an abandoned bicycle.  The BMX bike is being stored at police headquarters until the owner is identified. 

Patrol responded to Jericho Valley Drive for a report of a stolen bicycle around 11:30 a.m. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the owner of the bicycle who said that her Black Carbon Fiber bicycle was stolen out of her garage.  The victim told the officer that the garage door is usually closed, however was left open yesterday while she walked her dogs.  The value of the bike is estimated at $10,000.

Around 3 p.m., a resident of Linton Hill came to police headquarters to report that he received a communication regarding a newly opened charge account in his name but he had not opened the account.  The victim closed the account and put a fraud alert on his credit report.

Tuesday, Nov. 29

Shortly after 9 a.m., police responded to Cambridge Lane for a report of a suspicious gray vehicle parked near a bus stop.  The officer checked the vehicle in question and made contact with the owner, who is a resident of the street.

At approximately 9:20 a.m., a construction manager for Toll Brothers reported that at some point between Friday, Nov. 25 and Sunday, Nov. 27 someone entered two unfinished homes on Jane Chapman Drive in Wrightstown Township and stole three water purification systems that connect water pipes at the source in the basements.  The systems are valued at $250 each for a total value of $750.

Around 11:35 a.m., an employee from Learning Express called to report that one of the signs to the business was missing. 

At approximately 4:45 pm security personnel at Bucks County Community College contacted police to report that several buildings had been damaged by graffiti.  The responding officer photographed the damage for further investigation.

Wednesday, Nov. 30

Shortly after 10 p.m., police received a report of a motorist driving erratically in the area of Sycamore Street.  The suspect motorist was located and stopped by police after he struck a curb on Fountain Farm Lane.  A brief investigation revealed that the driver was diabetic and his sugar was low. Family members arrived and took care of the driver.

Thursday, Dec. 1

Police received the following reports of thefts from vehicles overnight:

Mulberry Lane: Two vehicles were ransacked with only loose change was taken from one of the cars, but there were no signs of forced entry.

Crabapple Place: One unlocked vehicle was entered but nothing taken.

Honey Locust: Two unlocked vehicles were entered. A registration card was the only item reported missing. 

Leedom Drive: One unlocked vehicle ransacked but nothing taken

Richboro Road: Victim reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her driver’s license, insurance and registration cards, $300 in cash, medicine, TD bank credit card and Gap, Macy's and Kohl's credit cards.

Heather Court: One unlocked vehicle rummaged through, but nothing was taken.                 

Saturday, Dec. 3

Police responded to Valley View Way shortly after 2 a.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the street.  The responding officer made contact with the occupants of the pick-up truck and determined that the driver was dropping a friend at his home on the street. 

A resident of Hidden Turn Lane reported that the wire to his outside Christmas lights had been cut at some point within the last week.  

A resident of Declaration Drive reported that around 10:40 p.m., he observed a silver pick-up truck stop in front of his house. He said the occupants got out and ran onto his front yard and damaged his Christmas decorations. The subjects got back in the vehicle and fled the area.  Police checked the area looking for a white or silver pick-up truck but did not locate it. 

Around 11:30 p.m., a resident of Lotus Place called police to report a loud party in the vicinity.  The responding officer located the party and the host agreed to reduce the volume of the music as well as closing the windows.  No further complaints were received. 

Shortly before midnight, a motorist reported seeing a male subject wearing a hooded sweatshirt walking on Liberty Drive trying to open a door on a parked vehicle.  The motorist confronted the man, who denied that he was trying to get in the car and continued to walk away. Police responded and checked the area and the adjacent neighborhoods but did not locate anyone fitting that description.

Sunday, Dec. 4

At approximately 1:30 p.m., police were dispatched to Valley View Way for a report of criminal mischief.  The responding officer met with the caller, who told him that someone had gone onto his property and relocated his Christmas decorations overnight.  No damage was done to the decorations. 

Around 5:35 p.m., a resident of Violet Lane reported that someone had ruined her outside Christmas decorations.
