Newtown Township Police Blotter: Oct. 31 to Nov. 7

The latest activity as reported by the Newtown Township Police Department.

Monday, Nov. 7:

A resident of Thornbury Lane called police around 7 p.m. to report that she was a victim of credit card fraud. The victim told police that she became aware of the situation when she started receiving bills for charge accounts that were not authorized by her. Police advised her to contact the credit bureaus regarding the compromised information and to obtain a credit report to see if there are any additional accounts that were opened without her authorization. Detectives will continue the investigation.

Sunday, Nov. 6:

Two residents of Cliveden Drive reported that their homes had been spray painted with pink and black paint overnight.  

Shortly after 5 p.m. a resident of Eldridge Road reported that his mailbox had been damaged overnight.

Friday, Nov. 4:

A Wrightstown resident reported that jewelry was missing from her jewelry box around 9:10 p.m. The victim said that several outside contractors had been working in her home over the past few weeks and she is unsure exactly when the theft occurred. She was advised to compile a detailed list of the missing items as well as the list of contractors hired to work in her home. 

Police were dispatced to the Village at Newtown South at approximately 8:20 p.m. for a report of large groups of juveniles loitering and some of them had been involved in a fight. The responding officers dispersed the teens and remained in the area to monitor the situation.

Thursday, Nov. 3:

Around 10:20 a.m. a resident of Pheasant Lane in Wrightstown came to police headquarters to report that someone had opened unauthorized credit card accounts in her husband’s name. The woman was advised to compile additional information to police in order to further an investigation.  

A resident of Linton Hill Road called police around 11:00 a.m. to report that someone had entered her unlocked vehicle overnight and took $20 in cash. 

Police were dispatched to Lincoln Avenue after a resident discovered that someone had entered her unlocked vehicle and removed an iPod from the vehicle overnight.

Wednesday, Nov. 2:

A resident of Grant Street reported that she received a letter advising her that a credit card application submitted with her personal information had been denied. The woman had not submitted the application in question, so she checked her credit history and learned that three other applications had been submitted to various companies. Two of the applications were also denied and one had been approved with purchases being made.

Monday, Oct. 31:

At approximately 10:20 a.m. a resident of Juniper Court reported that she heard her call alarm activate around 3:30 a.m., but did not check to see if there was a problem. When she went to her car the following morning she noticed that one of the side windows had been tampered with, although entry was not gained into the vehicle its was clear that the window weather stripping had been displaced.  The car was locked and parked on the street in front of the victim's house at the time the incident occurred. The victim further reported that another of her vehicles was parked in her driveway and was unlocked and someone had taken her GPS unit from that vehicle. The value of the GPS unit is estimated at $250.00.   

Around 8:30 p.m. a Grant Street resident reported that someone had thrown a pumpkin from a moving vehicle and the pumpkin hit his mailbox. The responding officer checked the area for the vehicle but did not locate it. The caller told the officer that his house had been hit with paint balls several nights prior to the pumpkin incident. No other homes in the area reported any similar problems.
