Newtown Twp Police: 20 Cars At Council Rock North Vandalized

And a 27-year-old Newtown resident was cited for public intoxication after he was found "staggering" along Sycamore Street.

Thursday, March 15

A resident of Briarwood Court called police around 2:45 p.m. to report that she received a suspicious phone call from a man who said he worked for Verizon and was going to shut off her service. The resident did not provide the caller with any personal information and the call was terminated.

Around 5:20 p.m., a caller reported that someone entered his vehicle overnight Monday while it was parked on Clearview Drive. The victim said his Apple iPad 2 and approximately $150 in cash were taken from the car.

Around 10:50 p.m., police responded to the parking lot of Council Rock High School North for a report that several vehicles parked in the lot had been vandalized. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a representative of the school, who said that the vehicles were there because some students were on a senior class trip. The officer observed 19 vehicles that had toilet paper, silly string and some type of gel paint on them. It is not known if any of the vehicles were damaged by the prank, police said. On Saturday at 6:20 p.m., a second report was filed after someone found a pickup truck in the parking lot surrounded by tree branches, a couch was in the bed of the truck and there was a clear silicone on the door handles.

Saturday, March 17

Shortly after 4 p.m., officers dispersed seven juveniles from a parking lot on Cambridge Lane. The teens left the area without incident.

At approximately 7:20 p.m., a resident of Wrenwood Way in Wrightstown Township reported that he received a ticket in the mail for a toll violation in New Jersey. He said the registration number on the ticket was left on a vehicle he had junked in New Jersey about a month ago. The officer ran the tag through the national database and discovered that it was still listed in the victim’s name. The tag has now been listed in the database as stolen.

Sunday, March 18

Shortly after 3 a.m., police observed a 27 year-old staggering along Sycamore Street. When police made contact, the officer observed that he was heavily intoxicated as he was unsteady on his feet, exhibited slurred speech and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. He was walked to his residence on North Sycamore Street and will receive a citation charging him with public intoxication.

Around 7:45 a.m., police responded to York Street in reference to a call that someone had found a metal lock box and a jewelry box while he was walking along the Newtown Bypass. The officer was able to identify the owner of the property and returned it to the Newtown Borough resident.

At approximately 12:25 p.m., a resident of Park Avenue in Wrightstown Township reported that someone had entered a building on his property and took a mountain bike valued at $3,000. There were no signs of forced entry and nothing else was missing. The victim will provide police with the serial number so it can be entered into national database for stolen property.

Monday, March 19

A resident of Buttercup Lane called police shortly before 9:30 a.m. to report that a key to his car had been lost on Sunday. The key was lost after it was placed on the roof of a car before his wife used the vehicle not knowing the key was on the roof. After searching for the key he called the police office hoping someone found the key and turned it in.

At approximately 10:45 a.m., police responded to the Newtown Township Skate Park when the contractor installing the fence discovered that some of the steel pipe had been stolen and other sections of the pipe had been damaged overnight. The estimated value of the pipe is less than $100.

Shortly before 10 p.m., police were dispatched to the parking area near the 500 Block of Diamond Drive for a report of two suspicious vehicles. The responding officer made contact with three males who told him they were waiting for a friend. After the officer checked their identification they were told to leave the area.
