Newtown Township Police Log: Burning Dog Doody and Dumpster Diving

The latest activity as reported by the Newtown Township Police Department.

Tuesday, June 21

An employee of the Newtown Elementary School reported sometime between 3:50 p.m. on June 20 and 6:50 a.m. on June 21, unknown subjects set off fireworks and spray painted the slide, the rock climb, and several spots on the jungle gym in the playground area.  The curb and three spots on the maintenance building were also damaged by spray paint.

At around 5:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Laurel Circle in Newtown Grant for a complaint of unauthorized solicitors in the neighborhood.  The responding officer located two male subjects who were soliciting door-to-door.  The men were advised that since they didn’t have a valid permit they would have to leave the area.  No further police action was required.

At approximately 7:45 a.m., police were dispatched to Society Place for a report of a male subject “dumpster diving.”  The responding officer did not see anyone going through any of the dumpsters. 

A resident of Crabapple Place called police around 7:15 p.m. to report that his vehicle was parked in front of his home and he found that it had moderate damage to the driver's side rear door and quarter panel.  It appeared as if a passing motorist caused the damage.

Friday, June 24

Shortly before 1:00 p.m., police were dispatched to Debra Sparks Dance Studio when an employee found one of the window screens on the ground and broken. The officer observed the broken, torn screen, but there were no signs of forced entry.

Around 5:30 p.m., a Yardley resident called to report that when she was Staples earlier in the day, she set her wallet down on counter and it was taken.  There was $80 in cash along with various credit cards, which she cancelled.         

At approximately 7:00 p.m., police responded to Cedar Lane in Wrightstown for a complaint that there was an ATV driving up and down the road.  The area was checked but the vehicle was not located. 

Sunday, June 26

At around 10:30 p.m., a resident of Township Line Road called to report a prowler on her property.  The resident told responding officers that she heard a loud noise and when she looked outside, she saw two subjects carrying a ladder running away from the house.  Officers checked the surrounding area, but did not locate the subjects.    

Shortly after 11:00 p.m., a resident of Upper Silver Lake Road reported that a bagful of dog feces was placed on their walkway and set on fire. The immediate area as well as the surrounding area was checked but no suspects were located.
