Newtown Township Police Log: Noise Complaints And Overnight Pranks

Monday, June 13

Police responded to a complaint of juveniles loitering and playing loud music near the clubhouse in Newtown Crossing around 9:45 p.m.  The officers located juveniles but there was no loud music. The teens were asked to leave the area, which they did without further incident.

At around 3:15 p.m., police were dispatched to the Sparkle Car Wash on Swamp Road for a complaint by a customer that her vehicle had been damaged.  The responding officer met with the woman, who said that while her car was in the car wash, there was a malfunction of the equipment and her vehicle was stuck inside.  She said that she watched as an employee twisted the key in the ignition so she tried telling a different employee how to remove the key by pressing another button.  Her car was moved out the automatic car wash and when she got in the vehicle, she discovered that the interior was wet and she found the stem of the key broken off in the ignition while the electronic part of the key with the key chain was in the cup holder.  She was advised to contact the owner of the car wash.

Shortly after 1 a.m., police responded to Bayshore Drive for a complaint of a loud party in the area.  The responding officers located the party and the host agreed to reduce the noise level.  No further police action was required. 

At around 9:50 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of North Drive and Laurel Circle in Newtown Grant for a report of juveniles playing with fireworks.  The officer dispersed the group with not problems. 

A resident of Cliveden Drive at 10:15 p.m. reported that she smelled smoke. Officers located a group of teens in the backyard with a controlled fire in a fire pit. 

Friday, June 17

At around 8:15 a.m. a Public Works employee contacted police after he found a piece of cinder block in a toilet at Helen Randle Park.  The toilet was not damaged.  

At approximately 10:20 p.m. police were on patrol in the area of the Newtown Grant Recreation Center and discovered a vehicle parked on the edge of the parking lot near the woods. The passenger's door and hatchback were open and the vehicle was unoccupied. The officer parked nearby and watched the vehicle and after a short time two male subjects emerged from the woods. The subjects told police that they were on their way home. When asked why they were in the woods they told police they needed to go to the bathroom, the area was searched and no contraband was found. The subjects were advised about being in the area at night and sent on their way.

Shortly before 11 p.m., police found an occupied vehicle parked in the lot of the Wrightstown Elementary School.  The officer checked the identification of the two 18 year olds and told them they should not be on school property after dark. They left without incident.

Saturday, June 18

Police received reports from three residents that their homes had been hit with eggs and toilet paper was strewn around their yards overnight.  The reports were received from residents of Primrose Court, Eleanor Way and Columbine Circle, none of the victims reported any permanent damage.
