Newtown Township Police: Three Cases of Backyard Vandalism Reported

Recent activity as reported by the Newtown Township Police Department.

Tuesday, July 26

Police monitored traffic on Eagle Road between the hours of 6 and 10 a.m., issuing 20 citations for speeding and stop sign violations.

Around 11:20 a.m., police responded to a home on Richboro Road for a complaint that the resident’s mailbox had been smashed overnight.  After the officer completed taking his report, he observed that a neighbor’s mailbox had also been damaged. The officer notified the other victim.

Shortly after 12 p.m., a resident of Bayshore Drive reported two male subjects who were carrying thick envelopes were going door to door and they did not have identification or a township issued permit for soliciting.  The caller could not provide any further information as to what the men were doing.  Officers checked the area but the subjects were not located.

Around 7:20 p.m., a resident of Ridge Avenue in Wrightstown Township reported that at some point between 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, someone had entered her backyard and threw lawn chairs into her hot tub.  The caller told police that she did not hear anything overnight.  A neighbor also reported that during the same time frame someone had entered her fenced-in back yard and threw towels, clothing, shoes, and a large metal ice chest into their pool. That person or persons also stole a large floating inner tube valued at approximately $35.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., police received a complaint of loud music being played in the garage at the Second Street Pub.  The officer arrived at the location, and made contact with a member of the band who apologized and told the officer in the future he would stop playing by 10 p.m.  The caller was satisfied with the outcome. 

Thursday, July 28

Around 3:40 p.m., a resident of Jericho Valley Drive reported that at some point after 6 p.m. on July 24, someone had entered her property and dumped numerous rafts and other pool related items into the pool.  The exterior of the property has a wooden fence around it along with an additional black mesh fence around the pool as a security gate.  The mesh fence was damaged. 

Friday, July 29

Shortly after 1 p.m., police were dispatched to Sequoia Drive for a report of an abandoned vehicle parked on the street.  The responding officer located the vehicle and determined that the vehicle is not abandoned since it has a current registration.

Due to severe thunderstorms and high winds, officers responded to several calls for trees on roadways especially in Wrightstown Township.  Members of the Public Works Department responded and removed the debris. 

Sunday, July 31

A resident of Pine Lane in Wrightstown reported after being away for the weekend, they discovered that a window screen on the front of the house was broken out of the track.  There were no further signs of entry into the home. 

At approximately 6 p.m. a woman came to police headquarters and dropped off a wallet that had been left on the counter of the Five Below store.  The woman told the officer that the customer in front of her in line left the wallet on the counter and she attempted to catch the woman, but was unable to.  The officer found identifying information in the wallet and contacted her to advise that her wallet could be picked up at the police station.

Shortly after 6 p.m., police were advised of a suspicious male subject walking around the homes in the area of Churchill Lane in Newtown Crossing.  When police arrived, they located the man, who was disoriented and unable to provide his name, address, birthday or any other helpful information. The man provided police with card that had a phone number, which police called and were informed that it was an organization that helps place individuals with physical and mental disabilities in various residential homes. The staff tried for several hours to determine if the man was affiliated but they were unable to locate any information on him.  Police transported him to Doylestown Hospital for a mental health evaluation since it was evident he was clearly unable to care for himself.
