Nine Accidents Reported in Newtown During Tuesday Snow

In addition to the accidents, police said they assisted numerous drivers who were stuck in the snow and ice.

Newtown Township Police responded to nine traffic accidents during Tuesday’s snow storm. In addition to the accidents, police said they assisted numerous drivers who were stuck in the snow and ice.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., about an hour after the snow began, an officer observed approximately 10 vehicles stuck on Swamp Road as they were trying to go south from Worthington Mill Road.

A PennDOT truck was unable to clear the road due to the traffic, police said.

The officer assisted the motorists in moving their cars so the road could be plowed by PennDOT, police said.

Council Rock schools were closed Tuesday due to the snow, which ended in the early afternoon. About four inches fell on the central Bucks County area.

The township did a lousy job preparing the roads for this snow storm.
