Officer Extinguished Playground Fire While on Patrol, Police Say

A Newtown Township police officer was patrolling Penns Park Road around 11:30 p.m. March 22 when he saw a fire in the playground at Wrightstown Elementary School, police said.

Police on patrol discovered a playground fire at Wrightstown Elementary School on March 22. 

According to Newtown Township Police, an officer was patrolling Penns Park Road around 11:30 p.m. that night when he saw a fire in the playground at the school.

One of the pieces of playground equipment was on fire as was the mulch under it, police said.

Police said the officer extinguished the fire with the extinguisher from the patrol vehicle and had Lingohocken Fire Company respond to make sure that the fire was completely out.  “The playground equipment did sustain some significant damage,” police said.
