Photos of Car Accident Rescue Released

The fatal crash occurred just before 2 a.m. on the Newtown Bypass at Woodbourne Road.

Photos released by the Newtown Fire Association of a fatal car accident Saturday depict crews attempting to save two people trapped in a mangled Corvette.

The crash occurred just before 2 a.m. on the Newtown Bypass at Woodbourne Road.  According to information from the Newtown Fire Association, Chief Carl Forsyth arrived at the accident scene and found an overturned Corvette with two people trapped inside.

Rescue crews from Newtown Fire Association responded and were assisted by Yardley Makefield Fire Company and Penndel Fire Company.

Crews used a variety of tools, including cutters, spreaders, rams and airbags to free the occupants. One person was transported by Newtown Ambulance Squad to Saint Mary’s Medical Center. The driver, John Casole, 52, of Yardley died at the scene.

The accident is under investigation by Newtown Township Police. The Newtown Bypass was closed for a few hours early Wednesday morning for a crash reconstruction.
