Police: $2K in Tools Stolen from Frost Ln Home, Baby Formula Theft at Genuardi's

Tuesday, June 26

At approximately 8:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to assist a Newtown Borough officer with a possible assault. The victim reported that several occupants in a passing vehicle threw an unknown liquid on him while he was riding his bicycle in the area of Ice Cream Alley within the township. The victim had tracked down the vehicle to the area of State Street and Centre Avenue and was waiting there for police. The responding officer spoke with the occupants of the vehicle and they admitted that they had sprayed the victim with a large water gun. They all apologized to the victim, who agreed not to pursue criminal charges.

Wednesday, June 27

Shortly after 7 a.m., a resident of Copperleaf Drive called police to report that at some point overnight someone had stolen a realtor sign from his front lawn.

Around 10 a.m., police responded to the area of the Newtown Bypass and Woodbourne Road for a report of a large amount of plywood in the roadway.  When the officer arrived, he made contact with the driver of the truck from which the lumber fell.  The driver explained that a motorist had run a red light and he needed to stop quickly to avoid an accident and that is when the spill occurred.  The officer directed traffic until the plywood was removed from the roadway.

A resident of Walton Court called police shortly before 4 p.m. to report that several people have come onto her property at various time and pick the fruit from her tree.  The officer advised her that placing no trespassing signs on her property may help and to call police at the time when she see anyone on her property she doesn’t know.

Around 8:30 p.m. police were dispatched to Greenbriar Lane for a report of a suspicious circumstance. According to the caller, three male juveniles got out of a vehicle and walked towards the bike path.  When the officer arrived in the area, she observed the vehicle and waited for someone to return to the car.  After a short time one of the teens returned and the officer made contact with him and learned that he had just dropped off two of his friends at a home in the area.  All was in order and no further police action was required. 

Police were dispatched to the Genuardi’s Market shortly after 9:30 p.m. for a report of a retail theft that had just occurred.  The responding officer met with the manager, who reported that as she was entering the store, a male subject was running out.  Employees told the manager that the subject had taken several bottles of baby formula without paying for them.  A customer in the store confirmed that he saw the subject putting baby formula in a bag and cover the bag with a jacket before running from the store.  It is estimated that the subject stole nearly $150 worth of formula. 

Thursday, June 28

Police responded to the Brookside Development shortly after 12 a.m. for a report of a loud noise that the caller described as a possibly a gun shot or an explosion to the rear of his home.  When police arrived, they made contact with the caller, who led them behind his house, where he showed them a soda bottle bomb in the parking lot on Woodbine Court.  After collecting evidence at the scene, the fire department was requested to wash down the roadway. 

Shortly before 2 p.m., a resident of Magnolia Drive reported that sometime between Sunday June 24 and Monday June 25, someone gained entry into her vehicle and stole her Nikon Camera.  The victim said her vehicle was unlocked at the time of the theft.  The value of the camera was estimated to be $100. 

At approximately 2:15 p.m., police responded to a call for a burglary in progress at a home on Rumford Court.  A Bucks County dispatcher advised responding officers that the homeowner said his 13-year-old daughter was inside the house with her friend and they thought they heard someone enter the home after ringing the doorbell repeatedly.  When officers arrived at the location, they observed that all the doors were closed and locked.  Officers located a man nearby who told police that he was a subcontractor for PECO and had made several attempts to make contact with someone in the house to notify them that he was changing equipment on the house.  His information was checked and confirmed, the girls were assured that everything was in order and they were safe.

Friday, June 29

A resident of Frost Lane called police around 10:20 a.m. to report that sometime overnight, someone entered his home and removed all of his woodworking tools. The victim will provide detectives with an itemized list of all the stolen property, but at this point the estimate is over $2,000.

Around 1:25 p.m., police received a report that a sign at the Historic Presbyterian Church on Sycamore Street had been damaged and found in a nearby parking lot.  The reporting party told the officer that the sign had been in place on Sunday, June 24. 

Saturday, June 30

Shortly after 6 p.m., a resident of Magnolia Drive responded to Police Headquarters to report that she was the victim of a credit card fraud.  The victim related that someone had used her personal information and credit card account to make an online purchase but provided a different mailing address.  The company that the purchase was made from will investigate the transaction.
