Police: Eight Citations Issued for Trespassing at Skate Park

The skate park was temporarily closed last month due to noise complaints from residents of the Tyler Walk neighborhood.

Newtown's Skate Park may be closed, but that hasn't stopped some from trying to use it. The Newtown Township Police Department issued eight citations for tresspassing at the park since March 25.

Newtown Township temporarily closed the municipal skate park last month due to noise complaints from residents of the Tyler Walk community, but teens from Doylestown and Feasterville have since been caught tresspassing. A wooden fence was put up to prevent access and “no trespassing” signs are posted, police said.

On Friday, March 25, police were dispatched to the park at around 1:25 p.m. for a report of four people trespassing on the property. Four male subjects were located; three of them were 18 years old and one was 19 years. All four are residents of Doylestown.  They each received a citation charging them with trespassing.

Then on Monday, March 28, police responded to a report of several juveniles skateboarding in the park shortly before 4:30 p.m.  The responding officer located four juveniles and advised them that the park was closed. The teens all told the officer that they knew that the park was closed due to noise complaints.  The juveniles, all residents of Feasterville, will receive tickets charging them with violating a local ordinance, police said.

The skate park, located off the Newtown Bypass behind Staples, opened in October but recent complaints of excessive noise have prompted the township to shut it down until the issue can be resolved.
