Police Nab Drivers For Speeding, Counterfeit Inspection

Recent activity as reported by the Newtown Township Police Department.

Newtown Township Police reported the following activity over the past week:

The following reports of thefts from vehicles were received from residents Monday, Aug. 29:

Rumford Court

One victim reported that nothing was taken from the vehicles but the glove boxes and trunks were left open and it was obvious that someone had rummaged through them.  Victim said he remembered hearing a motorist quickly leaving the area around 3:20 a.m.

Second resident told police that someone entered her unlocked vehicle and took approximately $10 in loose change from the console.

Parkview Way

A resident told police that her Apple iPod Nano and charger were stolen from her unlocked car.             

Attwood Court

A victim reported that he found the driver’s side door open and the center console and glove box had been rifled through.  A pair of Rayban sunglasses valued at $150 and $14 in cash had been stolen. 

Wednesday Aug. 29

At around 12:30 p.m., a patrol officer observed a vehicle displaying two counterfeit inspection stickers.  The officer stopped the motorist on the Newtown Bypass near Richboro Road and the driver, 52 year-old Andrew Borochaner of Penn Street in Bristol, received a citation charging him with the violation.  The counterfeit documents were seized.  

Shortly after 10 p.m., police received a call from a resident of Eldridge Lane, who said he heard a loud bang, saw lights and heard someone talking in the rear of his property.  The caller indicated that there is a stone driveway off of Linton Hill Road to the field behind his property.  The officer followed the driveway and made contact with four male subjects ranging from 17 to 21 years of age. One of the subjects told the officer that his father had recently purchased the grounds and they were going to camp out there overnight.  The officer called the parent and the information provided was confirmed.  The officer advised the campers to keep the noise down.  No further complaints were received. 

Thursday, Sept. 1

Around 3:30 a.m., police were dispatched to a home on Chesapeake Drive for a report of someone tampering with the homeowner’s vehicle.  The area was checked, but no suspects were located. 

Shortly before noon, police were dispatched to Canterbury Court for a complaint of an abandoned vehicle parked on the street for an extended period of time.  The officer determined that the vehicle owner lives on the street. The vehicle has a current registration and mechanical problems, police said. The owner was contacted and advised that if the vehicle is not moved by Sept. 9, it will be considered abandoned and tagged as such to begin the process by police to have it removed. 

Fri, Sept. 2

Around midnight, a patrol officer found two female juveniles walking along South Drive and learned that the 13- and 14 year-old teens were out without the knowledge of a parent.  The officer turned the teens over to a parent. 

Saturday, Sept. 3

At around 7:30 p.m., a resident of Hartford Lane reported that two fishing poles were stolen from his boat that was stored in his driveway.  The victim told the officer that the poles were valued at approximately $200 and were in the boat on Friday, Aug. 26.

Police received a complaint of a loud band playing at a home on Daffodil Place at approximately 9:30 p.m.  The officer spoke with the host of a large party, who advised the officer that the band had stopped playing and the party would be wrapping up soon.  No further complaints were received.                 

Thursday, Sept. 4

Police monitored traffic on Windy Bush Road from 1:10 to 1:40 p.m. and issued one citation to a motorist who was exceeding the posted speed limit. 

At approximately 3:10 p.m., a resident of Princess Lane called police to report a man pounding on her door. When the officer arrived, he met with a neighbor who admitted that he was banging on the door because he had witnessed an adult male climb over the fence in his back yard to retrieve something and thought it was the resident of the house where he was banging on the door.  Officers on scene were able to help the neighbors sort out the situation.

Police issued speeding citations to two motorists on Linton Hill Road between 3:30 and 4 p.m.           

Monday, Sept. 5

Shortly after 8 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle parked in the area of the Newtown Grant Recreation Center after hours. The responding officer located a small group of young adults playing ball by the car. The officer advised the group that the center was closed so they left the area without incident.
