Police: No Suspects in Roberts Ridge Vandalism Case

Newtown Township Police continue to seek those responsible for vandalizing Roberts Ridge Park in May.

Newtown Township Police continue to investigate a case of severe vandalism at Roberts Ridge Park that occurred in late May, Police Chief Rick Pasqualini said Wednesday.

Sometime overnight between May 30 and 31, vandals caused thousands of dollars worth of damage at the township park, which features a playground, a pavilion and restrooms.

The vandals destroyed the exterior of the restrooms.  Additionally, shingles on the pavilion were ripped off, the contents of the trashcans were dumped throughout the playground, and shattered glass was strewn everywhere.

The cost to repair the damage to the bathrooms will likely exceed $5,000, police said.

“We had a suspect but it didn’t come to fruition. We’re working the case as best we can,” Pasqualini said. “This one I’ve taken personally. The department is working to try to bring the person to justice.”

Pasqualini said he will make a request in the capital budget for lighting and cameras in the park to help reduce the prospect of future vandalism.
