Police Expanding Investigation after Second Child Luring Attempt

Newtown Township Police announced today it is coordinating with surrounding agencies to investigate recent reports of strangers attempting to lure children into their cars.

The Newtown Township Police Department has received two separate reports of incidents in which adult males attempted to lure young children into their cars.

The first incident occurred March 28, when a resident of Township Line Road reported that two girls ages 8 and 11 were playing outside their home when a stranger stopped his vehicle on the street, got out of the car and yelled "come on, come on" to the girls.

According to police reports, the man then opened the passenger side door and called to them again.  The girls ran into their house and told their mother, who notified police.  The male subject was described as a middle-aged white male with silver hair and a mustache. He was driving a dark blue, mid-size car. 

Then, this past Saturday around 8 p.m., a 9-year-old boy was outside his home on Jane Chapman Drive when a male subject driving a dark SUV stopped and asked the child if he wanted some candy.  The boy ran into his home and told his parents what happened. The subject was described as a white male in his 30s.   

Police said residents should call 9-1-1 immediately if they encounter a similar situation.
