A portion of the Newtown Bypass was officially renamed the Officer Gregg Memorial Bypass during a ceremony Tuesday.

A portion of the Newtown Bypass has been renamed in honor of a Newtown Borough police officer who lost his life in the line of duty.

During a ceremony Tuesday, the bypass, from its intersection with South State Street to its intersection with Durham Road, was officially renamed the Officer Gregg Memorial Bypass.

Brian Gregg, 46, was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 29, 2005.
