Preliminary Hearing Against Chalfont Cop Set for Sept. 6

Jon Cousin, 30, of Chalfont, remains incarcerated at Bucks County Prison. He faces numerous misdemeanor charges in connection with faking a shooting in the borough on Monday

Jon M. Cousin, 30, of Chalfont, the officer , will head to a preliminary hearing in Bucks County on September 6.

According to Bucks County Department of Corrections, Cousin remains in jail as of Wednesday in lieu of 10 percent of $150,000 bail.

Cousin is charged with the following misdemeanors:

  • False Alarm to an Agency of Public Safety
  • Two counts of Possessing an Instrument of Crime with Intent
  • False Reports Where the Offense Did Not Occur
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person
  • Disorderly Conduct

County Decteives arrested Cousin at the courthouse in Doylestown Tuesday evening after “inviting” him to the in a “ruse,” District Attorney David Heckler said. The DA implied the arrest was done in that manner to ensure the safety of the officer’s family - a wife and four young children - and others.

Cousin will face a preliminary hearing before District Judge William Benz in Richboro, PA at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 6, according to court records.

Hey Cops are getting ever increasingly the same reputation as priests when it comes to doing bad or crazy stuff. Can't trust politicians and priest s? Now how about cops? Sad!

Cops hate this guy worse than the public does...trust me. A few idiots make it difficult for the majority of good ones. The problem is the good ones don't make the news...the news flourishes on the bad ones.

Cousin's preliminary hearing has been continued and is now set to be held on October 10 at 1:30 p.m.
