Signs Stolen, Salesmen Without Permit Asked to Leave, Police Say

Recent activity as reported by the Newtown Township Police Department.

Newtown Township Police reported the following recent activity:

A representative of a business located on Penns Trail told police Thursday that black dog silhouette signs were stolen from the property.  The signs, valued at approximately $180, were used to scare away the geese.  

Around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, an officer observed a vehicle parked on the gravel maintenance path near the entrance gate to the Newtown Skate Park. The officer issued a parking ticket to the subject, a 32 year-old man from Fairless Hills, and told him the correct location to park his car while using the skate park.

At approximately 5:40 p.m. Thursday, police received a complaint of two men attempting to sell siding to residents on the area of Armstrong Circle.  The responding officer located the subjects and advised them that since they didn’t have a solicitor’s permit issued by Newtown Township, they needed to leave the area.  They were further advised that if they returned to Newtown Township trying to sell without a permit they will receive citations charging them with the violation.  

Police responded to the Newtown Athletic Club shortly before 5 p.m. Friday for a report that a car had been scratched and dented.  There were no witnesses to the situation.

Police were dispatched to the Newtown Grant Rec Center at approximately 10:10 p.m. Friday for a complaint of two suspicious vehicles parked in the back corner of the parking lot. The responding officer located the cars and spoke with the operators and advised them that since the Rec Center was closed they needed to leave the area.  They were cooperative and no further police action was required.
