Suspected Early Morning DUI Among Recent Police Activity

Newtown Township Police reported the following recent activity.

Saturday, March 2

Police were dispatched to Honey Locust Lane shortly after 8 p.m. for a report of a suspicious van parked on the street with the rear doors open and no one around it. The responding officer checked the area without locating the vehicle, but received a second report at approximately 9 p.m. and made contact with the operator. Police determined that he was delivering phone books to the residents in the neighborhood. No further police action was needed.

Shortly after 2 a.m., an officer stopped a motorist in the area of North Drive due to a vehicle code violation. Police said the the driver, a 22-year-old Huntington Valley resident, exhibited signs he was under influence of alcohol and that he was incapable of safe driving. He was taken into custody and transported to Saint Mary Medical Center where blood was drawn for testing. DUI charges are pending the results of the blood test.
