Teens Vandalized North Drive Bridge, Police Say

Newtown Township police also made two recent DUI arrests as well as issued three citations for underage drinking.

Newtown Township Police Department reported the following recent activity:

Around 2 a.m. Saturday, police stopped a motorist on the Newtown Bypass near Newtown Gate Drive due to a traffic violation. At the stop, police said they determined that three of the occupants in the vehicle had consumed alcohol while under the age of 21. Police said citations will be issued to the teens charging them with underage drinking.    

Shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday, police received a report that three juveniles were painting graffiti on a bridge on North Drive near Laurel Circle. The caller provided police with descriptions of the juveniles also reporting the direction they were walking away from the damage.  Responding officers said they were able to locate the juveniles involved and spoke with their parents. It was determined that two of the juveniles, a 13 year-old and a 14 year-old (both residents of Newtown Grant) were responsible for the damage, police said.  The juveniles have been referred to the Newtown Township Youth Aid Panel.

At approximately 1:15 a.m. Sunday, police stopped a motorist on Linton Hill Road near Springhouse Lane due to vehicle code violations.  At the stop it was determined that the driver, an 18-year-old Wrightstown man, had consumed alcohol while under the age of 21. He was taken into custody and transported to Saint Mary Medical Center, where blood was drawn for testing. Charges of DUI are pending the results of the blood work, police said.

Around 2:25 a.m. Sunday, police stopped a motorist on the Newtown Bypass due to a traffic violation.  The driver, a 21-year-old woman, was taken into custody and was transported to Saint Mary Medical Center where blood was drawn and will be submitted to the crime lab. She was then transported home and released. Charges of driving under the influence of alcohol are pending the results of the lab work, police said.

A resident of Claire Drive reported that an Apple iPad was removed from his home on March 19 when he had a contractor working in his house.
