Township Police Make Bank Patrols Part of Everyday Routine

In response to the recent rash of bank robberies in Bucks County—there were two this week alone—we asked the Newtown Township Police Department if they plan to increase patrols of local banks.

Turns out they already do regularly patrol banks multiple times each day.

Here's what a department spokeswoman had to say:

"Newtown Township Police have a policy that officers check the banks within our jurisdiction multiple times throughout each shift day an night. That means that officer may stop by and enter the bank, go through the drive through lanes to say hello, simply make a trip through the parking lot or sit in the parking lot to monitor traffic or complete reports from their cars.  This has been a practice for many years and we will continue to make these security checks."
