Township Police Respond to Two Car Accidents

Newtown Township Police responded to two car accidents last week.

On Wednesday, police were dispatched to the area of Eagle and Wrights Roads just before 4 p.m. for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident.  Upon initial contact with one of the drivers, a 55 year-old Newtown Township resident, it was determined that she was driving while under the influence of alcohol.  She was transported to Saint Mary Medical Center to have blood drawn for testing.  Charges are pending the results of the blood work.

Then, shortly before 10 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of a one-vehicle accident traffic accident on Durham Road in Wrightstown.  Once on location, the officer observed a pick up truck in the soybean field directly across from Midland Road. 

The vehicle owner told the officer that he heard a loud noise outside his home and when he checked to see what it was, he discovered that his truck had rolled down Midland Road across Durham Road coming to rest in the field. 

The truck struck and damaged the stop sign at the intersection of Midland and Durham Roads.  Officers notified Wrightstown Township about the damaged sign. The owner of the soybean crop was also notified.
