Police Respond to Two Car Accidents Tuesday in Wrightstown

Police responded to an accident at 4:40 on Windy Bush and Pineville roads and then another around 6 p.m. on Durham Road.

There were two car accidents in Wrightstown Township Tuesday during rush hour, Newtown Township Police confirmed today.

According to police, a two-car accident occurred at about 4:40 p.m. at Route 232 (Windy Bush Road) and Pineville Road.  Police said preliminary findings indicate that the driver of a Mazda was traveling west on Pineville Road and failed to stop for the stop sign.

Police said the driver of the Mazda hit a car traveling north on Route 232, causing the car to roll over multiple times. The car came to rest on its roof and the driver was taken to the hospital by a family member. The accident remains under investigation, police said.

Then, just before 6 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Route 413 (Durham Road) near Midland Road. 

According to police, initial investigations indicate a driver was traveling southbound on Durham Road and veered off the road to the right shoulder.

The driver then attempted to steer his vehicle back to the left but overcompensated, hitting a car in the southbound lane head-on, police said.

Both drivers were transported by ambulance to Saint Mary Medical Center for treatment of unknown injuries, police said.

Durham Road was closed at the scene of the accident until it was cleared.
