Two Part-Time Police Officers Eyed in Newtown Borough

Newtown Borough Council on Wednesday will consider hiring Joseph Carcaci and Michael McAllister as part-time police officers.

Newtown Borough Council on Wednesday night will consider hiring two part-time police officers to serve the Newtown Borough Police Department.

The candidates are Joseph Carcaci, 48, and Michael McAllister, 26.

According to the meeting agenda, Carcaci lives in Newtown and is a 1983 Council Rock High School graduate. He served in the United States Marine Corp reserves and attended the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 1987. Carcaci is a retired Pennsylvania State Police Trooper with the Fugitive Apprehension Unit. If approved, Carcaci will earn $18 per hour to start.

McAllister is a Yardley resident and a 2004 Council Rock graduate. McAllister graduated from Shippensburg University in 2008.

He received his Act 120 training at Delaware County Police Academy, where he graduated in December 2010. He currently works for the Colwyn Borough Police Department. If approved, McAllister will earn $17.50 to start.

Tonight's Borough Council meeting agenda also includes consideration of plans for the Steeple View development.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Chancellor Center.
