UPDATED: Police Seeking Man Who Approached 12-year-old at Bus Stop

Northampton Township Police said they've located the man who approached a Council Rock student at a bus stop last month.

Police have located the motorcyclist they were seeking in connection to an incident that occurred at a Council Rock bus stop last month.

Police were on the lookout for the man after he approached a 12-year-old Council Rock student at a bus stop on Barley and Harvest roads in Northampton Township and asked him if he wanted a ride to school.

Northampton Township Police Chief Barry Pilla told The Advance that the man came to the station Saturday after he heard they were looking for him. Police spoke with the man, who doesn't live in the area but has relatives here. After talking with him, police determined the incident was innocent and there is no threat to students.

Northampton Township Police said that shortly after 9:30 a.m. on April 26, a middle-aged male on a black and grey motorcycle asked a boy if he wanted a ride to school.  The motorcyclist, who reportedly did not touch or attempt to grab the student, did ask him several times if he wanted a ride to school, police said. The motorcyclist then left the area on Hatboro Road, police said.

The subject was described as a white male, middle-aged and tan with a white beard, wearing sunglasses and possibly jeans. His vehicle was a black and gray motorcyle with black saddle bags, police said.

"The student did the right thing when he got to school he went to school officials and reported the incident," Chief Barry Pilla wrote in an email. "The student was interviewed by School Security who then contacted our Police Department."

Afterwards, an officer visited the school and interviewed the student and his mother about the event. The officer then brought the investigation to the attention of his shift and detective unit supervisors.

The bus stop was monitored following the incident as the department worked to locate the motorcyclist.
