Woman Charged After Driving Stolen Car, Police Say

According to Newtown Township Police Department, Alyssa Stout of Winding Lane was charged with receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle after she was seen driving a car that had been reported stolen.

A 20-year-old Newtown Township woman was arrested March 22 after police said she was driving a car that had been reported stolen.

According to Newtown Township Police Department, Alyssa Stout, of Winding Lane, was arrested shortly after 1 p.m. that day and charged with receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle. 

Police said a detective observed Stout driving a 2012 Jeep Liberty that had been reported stolen from Philadelphia. She was seen driving the car in the parking lot of the Newtown Shopping Center, police said. At the time of the arrest, Stout told police that she had received the vehicle as a present from her father.

Officials from Newtown Township Police Department said the incident is still under investigation and could not comment on who owns the car.

Stout was arraigned by Judge Nasshorn and released on her own recognizance on $10,000 unsecured bail.
