82 PA Candidates Miss Campaign Finance Report Deadline

Eighty two candidates or their authorized committees failed to file timely campaign finance reports for the period ending May 9, state officials announced Friday.

The Department of State receives and files campaign finance reports for state legislature, governor, lieutenant governor and committees expending money to influence state elections. 

All candidates on the primary election ballot for those offices must submit campaign finance reports for the period ending May 9, the second Friday before the primary election.

“No person shall be deemed elected to a public office until all of the campaign finance reports and statements required to be filed have been filed,” according to the Pennsylvania Department of State.

“A candidate or candidate’s committee is considered noncompliant with the campaign finance reporting law if a late fee is owed or the required report has not been submitted for the current reporting cycle.  Once the candidate or authorized committee has met all obligations, the candidate or authorized committee will be removed from this list,” state officials said in a press release.
